The Nardo is a plant for perfumes of the Valerian family that grows in Himalaya, China, India and Nepal. The rhizome of the Nardo can be crushed and distilled in an intense aromatic amber essential oil, which is very thick called Nardo oil, used as a perfume (which however has an aromatic, medicinal essence) and is one of the 11 herbs used as an incense in the Temple of Jerusalem . The most ancient use we know, comes from amphoras, found in Egyptian tombs. This unguent was used by the Hebrew populations at the time of Moses. It was considered a luxury in Ancient Egypt, the East and Rome, where it was the main ingredient of the nardinium perfumes.
