Cross of Hope, Bottega Tifernate, 8 in, Jubilee 2025. The Cross of Hope is a crucifix designed by Stefano Lazzari of Bottega Tifernate, characterised by a double-sided design featuring symbols and values tied to the Jubilee 2025 theme, whose motto is "Pilgrims of Hope".
The cross, inspired by the layouts of St. Peter's Basilica and Square, represents Jesus Christ on one side. The Saviour is not depicted in pain, but as the One who had serenely offered his life for humanity. At his feet, stands the Mount Golgotha, symbolic place of the Crucifixion.
On the other side of the cross, instead, a pilgrim appears, depicted while he symbolically enters St. Peter's Square at the end of a journey of hope and salvation, symbolising the path towards redemption.
Bottega Tifernate selected sculptor Fausto Schirato for the modeling and Marino Vingolo for the casting.
Schirato made each detail of the plaster model by hand with extreme precision. The casting technique chosen to create this crucifix is lost-wax casting, considered the most valuable one, in which each piece is produced individually.
This is essentially a disposable method since, after the molten metal is poured and solidifies, the mold is destroyed to extract the piece. The molten brass is poured into the imprint taken from the plaster, and the resulting "art model" is retouched and refined by hand, then varnished and burnished piece by piece. Finally, a protective coating is applied to preserve the item over time and make everlasting its significance.
Delivered in an elegant red case with two plexiglass stands (of which one is a spare piece).
Each cross is numbered and has a certificate of authenticity with relative QR-code to access all informations about the Cross and Bottega Tifernate.
Made in Italy by Bottega Trifernate, this cross can also be used as a wall-mounted crucifix, thanks to a hole in the upper part of the cross and a nail delivered with the item.
