Cross of Hope, Processional cross of Jubilee 2025, Bottega Tifernate. The Processional Cross of Hope designed by Stefano Lazzari of Bottega Tifernate features a dual-sided design encompassing symbols and values related to the theme of the 2025 Jubilee, titled "Pilgrims of Hope". Inspired by the layout of St. Peter's Basilica and Square, the front of the cross depicts Christ, not in agony, but as the serene giver of his life for humanity. At his feet lies Mount Golgotha, symbolising the place of the Crucifixion. On the reverse side, a pilgrim is portrayed entering symbolically into St. Peter's Square, concluding a journey of hope and salvation, symbolising the path to redemption. For its creation, Bottega Tifernate enlisted sculptor Fausto Schirato for modeling and caster Marino Vigolo for casting. Schirato meticulously crafted each detail of the plaster model by hand. The chosen casting technique is lost-wax casting, producing each piece individually. After preparing a mold from which wax models are obtained, they are encased in plaster within a cylinder and heated until the wax melts. Molten brass is then poured into the cylinder to create the cross. The resulting model is refined, engraved, varnished, and burnished individually, enhancing the chiaroscuro of the design through patination. A protective coating is then applied to preserve the work over time and to eternalise the meaning it represents. Delivered with a collapsible pole measuring 61 in in height (base not included). Each cross includes a certificate of authenticity with a QR code providing additional information on the Cross and Bottega Tifernate. Produced in Italy by Bottega Tifernate, the cross is ideal for processions.
