Cross of Hope, pectoral cross of Jubilee 2025, Bottega Tifernate. The Cross of Hope, designed by Stefano Lazzaru of Bottega Tifernate, is a unique double-sided crucifix representing symbols and values inspired by the theme of Jubilee 2025 with its motto "Pilgrims of Hope".
The pectoral cross, handcrafted in Italy and accompanied by an appropriate brass necklace of round snake chain, is inspired by the layout of St. Peter's Basilica and Square.
The necklace is available in two different lengths: 31.5 inches or 35.4 inches.
The crucifix, also made of brass and measuring 3.9 inches of height, represents on the front face Jesus Christ on the cross, depicted not in a suffering attitude, but as the one who has peacefully given up his life for humanity, with the Mount Golgotha, place of the crucifixion, represented at his feet.
On the other side of the cross, a pilgrim is depicted while symbolically entering St. Peter's Square in Rome at the end of a journey of hope and salvation, which symbolises the everyone's journey towards redemption.
Bottega Tifernate selected the sculptor Fausto Schirato for the modeling and Marino Vigolo for the casting of this Crucifix.
Schirato manufactured each detail of the plaster template with infinite care and precision, while the selected casting technique was the lost-wax casting, considered the most precious as each piece is produced individually.
After the creation of a rubber from which are produced the waxes, these materials are submerged in plaster inside a cylinder, then cooked at high temperatures until the wax will melt. Then, the melted brass is poured into the cylinder to shape the cross.
The product is then finished and engraved. Each piece is painted and burnished individually and, thanks to the coating, the chiaroscuro effects of the modeling are enhanced.
Finally, a protective coating is applied to preserve the object from deteriorating over time, ensuring the lasting memory it represents.
The crucifix is delivered in an elegant red lined box, numbered and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity with its QR-code, allowing you to access further informations about the Cross of Hope and Bottega Tifernate.
