The paintingThe subject of the painting is inspired by the apocalyptic vision of Saint John the Evangelist, in which an angel descends from heaven holding a large chain in his hand, to chain the ancient serpent, symbol of the devil. The painter, through a creative and original baroque compositional style, captures the impetuosity of the apparition.
