The Holy Family is carved entirely by hand. Handcrafted product with great attention to detail, made in Peru.
The
wood comes from Lima and is taken to the Andes, where the workshops are
located, at an altitude of between 2800 and 3600 metres.
Here the
wood must mature for one to several years, depending on its thickness.
When the humidity drops to 12-13% it is ready to be used. The drawing,
first made on paper, is transferred to the wooden board.

The Holy Family is carved entirely by hand. Handcrafted product with great attention to detail, made in Peru.
The
wood comes from Lima and is taken to the Andes, where the workshops are
located, at an altitude of between 2800 and 3600 metres.
Here the
wood must mature for one to several years, depending on its thickness.
When the humidity drops to 12-13% it is ready to be used. The drawing,
first made on paper, is transferred to the wooden board.
Then the wood is carved with the help of chisels and gouges.
In
the first phase of the process, the wood is rough-hewn, defining the
figures, and then patiently worked with other tools until the image with
all its details is complete.
All the young sculptors came out of the "taller don Bosco" art school and were given the tools to work by hand.
The item is made in Peru by local artisans.
