The Way of the Cross is a street located in Jerusalem. According to tradition, Jesus carried the cross along this road to the place of his crucifixion.
This street starts at the Church of the Flagellation and follows an uphill path of about one kilometre, until it reaches where today we find the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre.
Today this street is within the walls of Jerusalem, but in Christ's time this street ended outside the city. Along the way there are chapels corresponding to the Stations of the Cross.
