In the Christian tradition, the staurotheke is a cross-shaped reliquary made for preserving fragments from Christ's cross. The bronze plaques are 11 and each one of them represents an important event for Christianity. In the centre, we find Our Lady of Kazan and around her we can see: at the top the Akathistos hymn to the Mother of God and the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ, in the centre four adorations of Our Lady and at the bottom (left to right) the Nativity of the Theotokos, the Annonciation, the presentation of the Theotokos and the Nativity of Christ.
The icon of 26.5x31 cm is delivered in a blue velvet casket with satin lining, including certificate of guarantee and origine, an expertise of Russian experts of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and export documents.
