In these icons, Jesus is depicted in a blessing position, facing the viewer, with a very expressive face. He holds an open Gospel in his left hand, for the viewer to read, and has Greek letters in his halo designating him as "the One who is", while on the Gospel pages are written the following ritual sentences: "A new commandement I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you also must love one another. - Come to me, all you who are toiling and loaded down, and I will refresh you. - I am the light of the world. - Do not judge, or you too will be judged".
