Bronze icon, Byzantine cross, Russia, end of the 19th century, 10x5 in. Orthodoxe cross made of bronze in the end of the 19th century, characterised by the typical transverse inclined axe on the bottom with the Old Jerusalem represented on one end and the New Jerusalem on the other.
The first transverse instead has the usual INRI inscription, surmounted by the figure of Christ the Savior with the Greek letters meaning "The One who is", blessing with the right hand and holding the globe with the left hand.
The body of Christ is fixed on the cross with four nails, his head turn to the right, with a spear on the right and a sponge on the left.
Where the cross connected to the Earth, an inscription says "The place of the Crucifix becomes Paradise".
