Our Lady of Kazan, ancient Russian icon of the 19th century, 14x12.2 inches. This ancient Russian icon of the 19th century, from Central Russia, represents the Mother-of-God of Kazan, with Our Lady flanked by the Infant Jesus upright. This representation belongs to the Hodegetria type.
The original painting was found by a young girl in 1579, who had a dream of the Virgin Mary showing her where the first christians had hidden the icon. After the find, the painting was brought to the Kazan church, becoming the protector of the capital city of St. Petersburg.
The icon is painted with egg tempera on a linden wood board and is delivered in an elegant case with the expertise of a registered expert.
