Our Lady of Kazan, Russian painted icon with embroidered riza, 19th c., 14x 11.8 inches. Small icon of Our Lady of Kazan depicted half-length, characteristic of the "cut off" images of the 16th century. The Child is depicted standing as in most icons of the type "Hodegetria".
This icon from the mid-1800s was painted on wood with egg tempera and decorated with a sort of riza made of elaborate embroidery and beads.
Icon delivered in an elegant blue velvet box with expertise.
