The icon is divided in sixteen external frames, each one representing one of the Great Feasts, which are: the Nativity of the Theotokos, the Presentation of the Theotokos, the Holy Trinity of the Old Testament, the Annonciation, the Nativity of Jesus, the Presentation of Jesus, the Baptism, the Entry into Jerusalem, the Transfiguration, the Ascension, the Dormition of the Theotokos, the Resurrection of Lazarus, the Beheading of St. John, the Exaltation of the Cross, the Pentecost and the Pokrov.
In the centre of the 16 frames, a bigger panel represents the translation of the theological message of Easter, depicting Christ's descent into Hades, the Procession of all the Blessed into Heaven with the Good Thief on the doorstep, the Resurrection of Christ from the grave and the Apparition at lake Tiberias.
