Our Lady of Vladimir is one of the most revered Orthodox icons. The original icon was painted in Constantinople in the twelfth century and sent to Byzantium, tradition says that the horses carrying the icon stopped and refused to go any further. This sign was read as the will of Our Lady to stay in Vladimir (Russian city) and so in order to welcome it the construction of the Dormition Cathedral began. Our Lady of Vladimir, also known as Our Lady of Compassion, was venerated as the protector of Russia. The icon is sized 32,2x28 cm and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and a custody.
