Russian icon, Mother of God Kardiotissa, 16.5x11.8 inches, découpage. Modern Russian icon with antique finish, made by hand with découpage and paint on hardwood, reinforced with crossbeams according to the classic Russian tradition to prevent the painting from benting over time.
The halos are painted with different shades of gold.
The original icon of the Kardiotissa was painted in the 14th century and is kept in the Monastery of Kera Kardiotissa in Crete.
