Icon of Mother of God Hodegetria, also called Our Lady of the Way since she guides us all to eternal salvetion, to Jesus. This is one of the icon attributed to the Evangelist Luke, which was moved from Jerusalem to Constantinople in 1046 and in the XII century to Smolensk by prince Vladimir II Monomakh. In 1237, during the Golden Horde invasion, the icon pushed the Tartars away.
