Mother-of-God Vladimirskaja icon 22x18 cm hand painted in Romania. Hand painted icon made by a Romanian artist according to traditional iconographic technics on a plank of wood with canvas applied on it and covered by layers of plaster.
This icon of Our Lady of Tenderness is particularly venerated in Russia and traditionnaly known to have chased away the Tartars from Moscow three times. Painted at the beginning of the XII century, the painting represents the Virgin Mary with a sweet but sad expression, aware of her future sufferings. The Child, with adult traits, holds himself tenderly to his mother neck, almost saying to her "do not cry for me".
Delivered in a velvet and satin blue box with guarantee certificate and a brochure about the icon history.
