This icon is a faithful reproduction of the Feodorovskaya icon of the Mother of God of the 17th century, belonging to the type of depiction known as the Virgin of Tenderness. On a gold backround, the icon represents the Mother of God in a red cloak, holding her Son close to her, cheek to cheek, with her son's hand on her chest. The Virgin looks sad, as if she had already sensed the tragic destiny of her Son.
