This icon was first painted in 1158 on the request of the grand duke Andrej Bogolubskij and based on his dreams. The Mother of God is represented with an open scroll in her hand containing the dialogue between her and the Son of God. Beneath this portrait, we find the Christ Pantocrator in the centre, the Virgin with the Archangel Michael on his left and Saint John and the Archangel Gabriel on his right.
The back of the icon is protected by fabric and has a hook to hang it.
