Saint Barbara with chalice in Valgardena wood, 56cm antique gold finish.
The artist of this statue is Tillmann Riemenschneider (1460 - 1531), and the original is kept in the National Bavarian Museum in Munich.
Barbara is the patron saint of miners.
Antique gold finish: the painted statue is coated with gold leaf.
This statue in maple wood is hand made by the Valgardena artisans, following the local artistic tradition.
