This is an original ancient icon, finely repainted by the artists of the Golden Ring in Russia. The icon portrays Saint John the Baptist.
Saint John is one of the most represented saints in the history of sacred art. He often appears as a little child playing with Infant Jesus, but also as a prophet dressed in animal skins or poor garments. The Church has shown great devotion and interest towards the saint, who is remembered both in the day of his death (August 29) and that of his birth (June 24).

Restored in 2016 by the artists from the iconography laboratory of Moscow.
